1. Initial Conversation: Understanding Your Needs

The journey to a quality MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) solution starts with a conversation. This step helps us fully understand your needs and lifestyle to ensure we’re designing a system that perfectly fits your home. We’ll clarify what’s involved in the installation, such as the benefits of better air quality, energy efficiency, and overall comfort. At this stage, feel free to ask questions and share details about your home so that we can provide you with the best solution.

We also have a comprehensive FAQ section to cover common queries

2. Design Phase: Tailoring a System to Your Home’s Layout

Once we understand your needs, we’ll enter the design phase, using your supplied floor plans to craft an MVHR system that exceeds UK Part F guidelines for fresh air and energy efficiency. During this stage, we’ll carefully annotate your plans, marking the rooms designated for supply (dry rooms such as living areas and bedrooms) and extract (wet rooms like kitchens, bathrooms, and utilities that produce moisture or odours). By thoughtfully planning where air is supplied and extracted, we ensure optimal circulation throughout your home.

3. Site Visit: Assessing Installation Feasibility

A critical part of the process, the site visit allows one of our engineers to visit your property and assess installation feasibility. They’ll look at the best placement for the MVHR unit, ducting routes, and other structural aspects. If any builder’s work is necessary (such as installing roof cowls or coring), our engineer will advise you at this point. Once you decide to proceed, we’ll supply either wall or roof cowls depending on what’s best for your home setup.

Note for Retrofit Projects: For existing homes, we combine steps 1 and 2 for efficiency.

4. First Fix: Setting Up the MVHR System Framework

The first fix is where the initial installation begins. During this stage, our team installs the MVHR unit, ducting, and plenums in each designated room. These plenums are where air supply or extraction valves will eventually go. To protect the system, all openings are sealed until construction finishes, preventing any dust or debris from entering the ductwork.

5. Second Fix & Commissioning: Fine-Tuning the System

Once your home is dust-free and other building work is completed, we’ll return for the second fix and commissioning. Here, we fine-tune your MVHR system. Our engineers will trim the plenums and install ceiling valves in each room. Then, we power up the unit and configure it according to the initial design, setting the airflow to each room. We’ll also calibrate the system using an anemometer, ensuring each valve delivers the correct airflow for maximum efficiency.

By the end of this phase, your home will have a fully operational, quality MVHR system, providing fresh air, removing excess moisture, and helping maintain a comfortable, energy-efficient environment.
